Face #2 and #3!

Today I was so torn! There are 2 photos of Amelia Jane that I wanted to attempt... Then I realized, duh! I can paint them both!! lol... I chose one for today and I will work on the other tomorrow...

This is my Amelia Jane at 2 months old. She was a chunker and oh, so happy!!

Here are some of the process shots from today's attempt... although, I think, I captured the joy, I can see where I missed some of the finer points of her face...

There is so much that I want to tweak and change, but I need to learn more about facial structure and how to get the paint to do what I want it to do. Even with the challenges I see in this painting, my brain could not let go of the other photo, so even though it was late in the day I got started! I do not have process shots though :( .. here is the finished product.

From the moment Amelia was born, she had this perfectly shaped head and this beautiful, peaches & cream complexion! We were in the hospital for 4 days, this was when we came home on the 4th day :) ... She was swathed in pink, none of the newborn clothes fit her she was so tiny!

I dont know if portraiture is in my future... These are my own babies and even so the stress level for perfection is SO high! I am going to keep challenging myself though and explore this genre of art.

If you are enjoying these insights into OVashti Art, I would be honored if you would share this with your friends! If you have any thoughts or comments on this subject, please feel free to leave a comment below!

Creatively yours,
