Day 3, 30 Days of Mermaids!

Wow! Today was a bit crazy! Yes, it is 10:30 pm and I am JUST getting to post about today's painting!

I had paint pen malfunctions, a wonky mermaid boob, Elliott had a potato chip up his nose... it was a busy day!

I wanted to paint the mermaid on the right today. I wanted to use Green, as it is my favorite color.

There are still a few finishing things left to do. I must sign it, of course, then seal it.... I still feel there is something not quite right... I'll let you know in tomorrow's post if I figure it out...lol...

I've read some fascinating articles on women along the coast of Japan and China, diving, nude for shellfish, kelp and other edibles to support their family going back 1500 years! These women were the bread winners of the family, strong and confident... I can imagine the European explorers in the early 19th century would be pretty amazed to see these women, not just that they were naked and swimming, although that was enough of a culture shock, but to see them taking the lead for there families as well... Magical Mermaids may have been the only words they had to describe them :)
